When you are thinking about your dream bathroom, you probably think of a large, luxurious shower, countertops in your favorite color, or specialty lighting that perfectly illuminates both the room and your glowing face. While these are the things that make us want to remodel our bathrooms, make sure that you don’t forget the little things as well. Here are a few things that, while not the highlights of your new bathroom, you definitely don’t want to forget.
Imagine stepping out of your first shower in your newly remodeled bathroom only to realize that you don’t have an outlet near the make-up bench for your curling iron or enough drawers to store your styling products. Your dream bathroom might quickly turn into a nightmare!
Remember that, while a beautiful bathroom is wonderful, it also needs to be usable. So before you select your cabinets, take inventory of everything you store in your current bathroom. Do you have too little, too much, or just enough space? Be sure to include at least a little extra storage in your new bathroom.
Also be sure to pay attention to how you use your bathroom. Do you have (or would you like) a small table near the tub to warm essential oils? Or do you like to have three styling tools plugged in at once on your vanity? Plan your outlets accordingly to save yourself regret and stress later!
There are hundreds of shower head options, so take the time to shop. This is a fixture that you will be using every day, so it is well worth the effort to find one that fits your style. Do you want it to be fixed or movable? A powerful spray or a gentle rain? How high do you want it? The perfect shower head is entirely a personal preference, so don’t take a designer’s word on what the “best” one is - pick the one that is best for you!
A poorly ventilated bathroom is a haven for mold and mildew, so you want to be sure that your ventilation system is powerful enough to remove moisture as quickly as possible. You also don’t want your relaxing bath to be ruined by a loud fan, however.
Fortunately, there are many fans available now that can effectively remove moisture without sounding like a freight train. Make sure you discuss this with your designer so they know it is important to you - their go-to system might be based on price or availability, not on the serenity it will bring to your space.
While shopping for a ventilation system or placing outlets might not be as exciting as selecting a tile color, you’ll be very glad you gave special attention to these items once you’ve settled into your new bathroom. When you are ready to start turning your dream bathroom into a reality, just give our design and installation experts a call!
